David Edgar Guest, photographer, is known for his unique approach to life and attempts to relate that view in the angles used to photograph the ordinary. Using distinctive point-of-view, Guest looks for angles, shadows and approaches to his subjects that bring out the best in them. He seeks a dynamic view, a different way of seeing the ordinary that we overlook and, therefore, miss the wonders around us; whether it is in the distinctive grace and design of a building or the splendor of nature. The artist asks us to appreciate the beauty therein and not destroy it through active or passive participation in the scheme of life on this planet; to celebrate the elegance that surrounds us and supports us.
In addition to his photographic work, Guest also produces and performs in Reader’s Theatre, enacts characterizations for meetings and special events, and works in the local theatre industry. Guest produces and hosts “Backstage” which celebrates its 18th anniversary in June on Berks Community Television. David and his puppet friends, Frieda and Freddie, are often seen at the Goggleworks.
David Edgar Guest is currently coordinator of Gallery 20.
